Geospatial layers, predictive analytics, animated weather, and a report a regulator will accept.
the brief
Track environmental indicators across regions over time, overlay forecasts, and produce a periodic report that goes to a regulator unedited.
what I did
Animated weather layers over Mapbox with time scrubbing, prediction outputs from the model team rendered as their own layer with visible confidence, and RBAC through Keycloak so each organisation only sees its own regions. Reports render server-side on a queue from the same data the screen uses.
what broke
The first report generator ran in the browser. It was quick to build and produced subtly different numbers than the dashboard, depending on what was loaded. Regulators don't accept 'subtly different'.
what I'd change
Build the export path first, from the same query the UI uses. If a number can be produced two ways, it will eventually be produced two ways.
