Inception-of-Things & ft_transcendence
School projects, but the useful kind — deployment and real-time, with nothing abstracting them away.
the brief
Two 1337 projects: build a working Kubernetes cluster from an empty VM with continuous deployment from git, and build a multiplayer ping-pong game with chat, friends and moderation.
what I did
For the cluster: Vagrant provisioning, K3s with host-based routing for multiple apps, Argo CD watching a GitHub repo so a push became a deploy. For the game: NestJS with websockets holding authoritative game state, React on the front, with blocking and access controls treated as features rather than an afterthought.
what broke
The first version of the game trusted the client for paddle position, which worked beautifully until someone with the dev tools open scored fifty points without moving.
what I'd change
Both would benefit from tests I didn't write at the time. I keep them online unpolished on purpose — the commit history is more honest than a cleaned-up version.
